"I went to America to convert the Indians; but Oh! Who shall convert me? Who, what is he that will deliver me from this evil heart of mischief? I have a fair summer religion. I can talk well; nay, and believe myself, while no danger is near; but let death look me in the face, and my spirit is troubled. Nor can I say, “To live is gain."

John Wesley (Age 31), 24 January 1734

He preached over 40,000 sermons by the time he died at age 88.

"Introverts, in contrast, may have strong social skills and enjoy parties and business meetings, but after a while wish they were home in their pajamas. They prefer to devote their social energies to close friends, colleagues, and family. They listen more than they talk, think before they speak, and often feel as if they express themselves better in writing than in conversation. They tend to dislike conflict. Many have a horror of small talk, but enjoy deep discussions."

i just talked to a SISTER MARTHA on the phone. i’m going to go hang out with her at a former catholic seminary on Monday.

i’m picturing the really old, fragile, quiet nun on Sister Act.

freakin’ pumped.

i love the shop where i work.

we sell flowers, cards, and home decor…

our florist is my favorite person at work. her name is gwen. she’s like 65. i just love her. she’s just great. and she loves me. and i’m not being boastful… she tells me how great she thinks i am.

and she’s great because she just tells you how it is. straight up. no crap.

today she asked me what i’m majoring in. bachelors of contemporary ministry.

“so, do you want to be a minister? or? a counselor? or…?”

and she hates church. thinks it’s a bunch of crap.

she asked me what i want to do. i told her that i think church should be enjoyed, not endured.

she said, “amen! you’re obviously not catholic….” then she laughed. but, then she started telling me all about what her experience of church is.

she told me about how her mom (who, from what she’s told me, did not have the love of Jesus in her heart. at all.) who made her go to church for punishment.

that woman doesn’t even know… she’s gonna get saved. i know it. i can already imagine what her face will look like when she meets Jesus for the first time. it’s going to be so great.
